How to apply for your State of New Jersey Permit to Carry.

PERMIT TO CARRY APPLICATION
Online Application!​

Please use the following link the State Police website with the online application. Fill this out to the best of your abilities and you will need to include the following information:
- Municipal Code - which can be found in the link below.
- Driver's License and NJ FID Numbers
- References - 4 references with email address and home address​
- Training certification with Use of Force Training

PROOF OF OWNERSHIP
You will need to provide proof of ownership of the firearm(s) you intend to carry. This can be a purchase receipt, purchase permit or a notarized letter of ownership listing make, model, and serial number(s).
QUALIFICATIONS
Written Qualifications must be within six (6) months of application and include Instructors Name and Certification as well as make, model, caliber and serial number of handgun(s) you intend to carry.

Please keep in mind that if you wish to partake in the following courses to qualify for the Permit to Carry, you must have your own firearm and an 'Outside the Waistband' (OWB) holster.

Before you qualify, you must meet the specified prerequisites down below.
STEP 3: NJ CARRY PERMIT QUALIFICATION
This class features the qualification "test" that you must pass to receive certification that you have qualified with your firearm.

*Once you have passed, this does not mean that you can carry. You must follow the required procedure to obtain your Permit to Carry.*

Prerequisite Courses:
- Range 129 Basic Handgun
- Range 129 Basic Holster

Must Need:
-Outside the Waistband Level 1 Kydex-type holster
-Belt
-Firearm with 50 rounds of ammo

STEP 2: BASIC HOLSTER
This class goes through the motions of drawing from the holster, allowing you to become comfortable with holstering your firearm.

Prerequisite Course:
-Range 129 Basic Handgun

Must Need:
-Outside the Waistband Level 1 Kydex-type holster
-Belt
-Firearm with 50 rounds of ammo

STEP 1: BASIC HANDGUN
This class goes over the fundamentals of firearms safety with live fire drills. It features the first hour in the classroom for a PowerPoint presentation and the second hour in the range to obtain a more hands on experience.

Must need:
-Firearm (rental if needed) with 50 rounds of ammo
